2009 Christmas Bear -- Joy Holly

I have finished this cute little bear just right before Christmas.

She should be the entrant of Teddys Bit's Mystery competition, but I didn't make it to the deadline...
Anyway, the compeition was about the teddy bear supplier shop sell a kit,
but it doesn't have pattern, only 3 different colour of short pile mohair -- brown, green & red.

We have to use these 3 colours of mohair to make a bear with X'mas theme.I designed the pattern, choose the eye size, joints and paw pads. And here she is, "Joy Holly".

She is about 20 cm height, has black glass eyes, 5 ways lock nut joint sets, wool stuffing with X'mas theme paw pads.As I want her to free stand, I used a lot of garnet powder in her both legs. She is wearing a green Tee with 2 big Christmas buttons, with silver tinsel ribbon around the arms. As well as a red skirt with gold tinsel ribbon.

Both of her ears also have bells in there, the bells will ring when you move her.

Oh! And she is also carrying a Christmas sock, and wow! She got a gift from Santa!

Happy Halloween

I know it's bit late to post this bear out, but I am really love him!
He is cutest bear that I have ever made!

He is also my first ever Halloween bear, he is about 38cm height without hat (50cm height includes hat).
As I want him can free stand, due to the huge wings. I add a lot of garnet powder in his both legs, so he is very heavy... about 1 kg!
He has huge black feather wings, black felt witch hat with pumkin Halloween decoration.
As Halloween in USA is about Autumn, so I gave him a scarf. Black & White scarf with ghost pieces around!

The cutest part is his fings! He is not looking scary without those fings! LOL
He is also carrying a pumkin candy basket, and he is ready for Trick or Treat!

I have gone back to my hometown, Tainan City, Taiwan on June.
We spent 5 weeks overthere, and I have bought my daughter Misha back home to see my parents.
My mum have seen Misha when she was born, but my dad didn't, so that was his first time to see his grand-daughter!
We really had a great time when my parents, and of course... a lot of shopping and eating! (LOL)

But I wasn't have enough time to finish 2 bears, so I made this flower fairy instead.
I will still do that bear set in the future, because I love to do this idea for a very long time!

I am still very happy what I have done for this flower fairy bear,
as she is such a lovely girl! I am very prond what I achived for her! ^__^

Taking photos

My workroom is not only messy at the moment,
it is MESSY, MESSY AND MESSY.....
My workroom was made up by our garage, it's simple, but many bears have been made in this small room.

I was taking photos for my Black and White Ball show bears yesterday.
This is the first time that I use SLR digital camera to take bear photos.
Professional camera really made the bear looks very different..., as I always use simple digital camera to take bear photos.
But they always can't show the beauty of real bear!

So this time I asked my husband to teach me how to use SLR camera,
and found the result is very surprise me!
I have also used 2 flash at the sides and they give the bear really good lighting and effect!

Had a bad dream

It looks like I am going to make a panda..., but it will be a very different panda!

I had a bad dream last night,
it was about today is the last day before hand in Black & White ball show's deadline,
and I didn't finish any bear!!

After woke up, I start to sew the bear immediately.
Don't wanna this bad dream to come true!!

Happy Easter

Please meet my latest creation -- Joshi the Rabbit

He is my first ever bunny rabbit, and he is one of "Easter Challenge" in Teddy Bear and Critters - Australaisa

He has hand-painted glass eyes

Wired ears & needle sculpted foot pad. He is also air-brushed to give him unique colours.

Here are some of his details:
EDITION: OOAK
SIZE: 10 inches (27cm) when sitting (include ears)
FABRIC: Mohair
PAW PADS: Ultrasuede
EYES: Painted crystal eyes
NOSE: Embroidered with perle cotton
JOINTS: 5 way locknut joints
FILLING: Wool filling & stainless steel shot in tummy
ACCESSORIES: Ribbon bow on neck
DETAILS: Airbrushing, needle sculpting, sculpted paw and footpads and horse hair whiskers

He is ready for adoption with price of AUS$120.

Behind the scene:
The photos that I took for him at Australasia Teddy Bear and Critters's website is really bad, because I finished him right on the deadline & didn't get chance to take photos at day time. So he ended of having photos done during the night, and my workroom is too dark to take professional photos.

I used cardboard to set up the place and have used flash mode, cause the shadow will just right behind the bunny without flash. However flash didn't work well too.
I think it's time to learn professional photography!
Don't want to end of horrible photos at all, because all of my photos can't really present my workmanship!!

Holding My Heart

I have created this big angel boy for long time.
He is a very special bear, because he was different before.

He had crystal tears on the face and his arms have armatures, so they are bendable.
Just looks like he is praying to God, hope the war can stop, there is no more fight or argument between people.

However this lovely bear still can't find someone loves him & take him home.
So I had a little change for him -- take off the tears, and give him a heart shape necklace.
He feels no more sadness and ready to bring his heart to you!

Black & White Ball

I will join Teddy Bears & Critters Australia on June for this wonderful event:
Black & White Ball from 1st to 7th of June.

I will have 2 bears for competition & 3 bears for online shows.
I am very nervous right now....
Because I haven't make so many bears for very long time.
I have been busy with my 7 months old baby girl and she takes almost ALL of my time!!

Luckily I have few ideas stored in my mind and have started sewing, otherwise I really don't know how can I hand in 5 bears at one time!

OK....chop chop....
I am going to sewing the bears now!

Happy Valentine's Day

粗體Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Just showing one of my favorite creation so far.
These couple bears are ordered by a nice customer that I have for many years.
He ordered these bears for his sister's wedding.

In Taiwanese wedding, bride will carry a candy basket and stand at the exit when the wedding dinner finish.
People can take lollies from the basket, it means to share the happiness from the new couple.
So this Love Bear Basket will be carried by the new bride and lollies will surround the bears.
I can image this lovely scene, people will surprise this special candy basket!

When I made this candy basket, I just gave birth for my baby girl not long ago.
I was still doing "One Month Rest" when I made them. (In Chinese tradition, woman who gave birth needs to rest for a month and "CAN NOT" wash hair for a month as well!)
I didn't rest that much, because I really can't just stay on the bed for 30 days and almost back to work about 2 weeks after gave birth.

I still can remember the swing is the most difficult things to make!
I have drew a lot of sketches and looking for so many different kind of materials,
and finally make this swing that I happy with.

These 2 bears and the basket really took me a lot of time, but I am really happy with the effect that I have achieved!

I am very surprise to get this award which gave from Jenny of Jennylovesbenny.

Because I am just very new to English version blog.

And I just updated some new creations onto here, and so happy to get this award.

Meet "Pang Pang"

Please meet my latest creation which made by custom design.

This customer emailed me and told me her dog passed away and she cried so many days.
Then she sent me so many photos of her dog and asked me to make one for her.
However, custom made someone's beloved dog is a hard job.
Because they use to live with their dog and will notice the difference if my work is not similar to their one.
I usually fell so much pressure to take this kind of order.
Luckily she love the dog and even said she cried when she saw the picture that I sent to her...

I love this job, I love to create something special for someone who needs it.
Custom design work is big challenge, but I will still keep doing it!
